07-17-2007, 18:52 Anonymous Manually moving through snapshots Hi Guys, Please disregard the suggestion in my previous message i.e. "There does not appear to be any way of moving through the snapshots manually one at a time. What about providing forward/backward buttons to enable this?" Before posting I tried all manner of arrow/control key combination, and it wouldn't work ... posted, went back and tried again and it worked fine. Perhaps it had something to do with the timebar not being the focused control. Sorry for the false alarm. Best regards Steve

The problem with the current approach is that the focus needs to be on timebar for the left and right arrows to work. This has a number of disadvantages:<br> 1) For beginners such as Steve (and myself), it wasn't clear how to do this stepping 2) If the focus is not on the timebar, you have to either use the TAB key to move the focus; or click on the timebar using the mouse (which may move the current snapshot) 3) It is too easy for the timebar to lose the focus (and this is what I was going to post about). In particular, if you have clicked on the Play button to review a sequence and then click on the Pause, the Timebar does not then have focus, so if you want to step backwards or forwards from where you have stopped, you have to use the Tab key again to get the focus onto the Timebar. So, my suggestion would be have two hotkeys designated for next/prev image which work irrespective of current focus. Ctrl+Left (or right) arrow would be my choice.    Report

05-08-2008, 7:06 Anonymous Re: Manually moving through snapshots ditto for me. I was unaware of the existing arrow key functionality until I came here to post the suggestion. I can't think of any reason why this should not have similar playback controls to video or media players: Start, Rev, Play/Pause, FFwd. That's a well-understood paradigm most users would grasp intuitively.
