TimeSnapper 2.7 released! The really cool feature: Activity Clouds in the reports
Reply Quote
As can be seen in the release notes:
  • New report: Activity Cloud. Shows a word cloud of accumulated windows titles for a given period. This can give you an idea really quickly about what you were doing on a particular day. Words that appear more frequently appear bigger in the cloud.
  • New filtering controls in the reports dialog for easier date ranges selections
  • Some minor fixes:
  • Capturing (semi-)transparent windows in a multi-monitor setup didn't always work
  • Saved Dialog positions should be ignored if out of bounds
  • The bug report dialog now allows empty email address
  • Check if the database version is later than the TS client
  • Multiple retries for connecting to the database if db-file is locked
  • Fixed problem that was continually logged if there was no BookingDefinitions.xml file.
Enjoy and let us know if you like it!

Cheers
Atli

Sorry Atli but I just upgraded and the cloud feature isn't working for me.

The report viewer can't find the xml/xslt file in my user temp directory.

Hi Greg, sorry about that one!  Please do a "Check for updates" from the help menu to upgrade to 2.7.0.2 which fixes this.

Cheers

The Activity Cloud is really neat!  Also very amusing :)

I also wanted to say that semi-transparent windows work just fine in this version!  Yay :)  So glad that's all sorted out and fixed.

Also, TimeSnapper saved me! My main computer three weeks ago suffered a HD failure and thus taking Windows with it.  While I have files backed up of course, it's been a while since I took screenshots of how I like windows to appear visually and specific program settings in that regard.  I run TimeSnapper 24/7 and so gosh, it was as easy as viewing my daily captures in TimeSnapper and I was up and running, everyting set up in record time!  Hurrah!

Regards,

Thanks Wabbit!  I really love to hear these kind of stories! :)   ... well except for your HD dying!

Idea [I] Re: TimeSnapper 2.7 released! The really cool feature: Activity Clouds in the reports

I tried the Activity Cloud feature, and found it very useful. This is what I expected.
Thanks a lot.

I would like to mention one possible improvement regarding this feature.

Activity Cloud as of now is very useful.
But some words in the Cloud do not remind of tasks related to the words.
Or, we can say that... some words in the Cloud do not remind of window captions from which they have been derived.

For example...
I generated Activity Cloud today, after working for about 5 hours.
It was very useful, but there were some words which were large in size but I could not figure what they indicated.

Then I searched for one such word in Activity Overview, and then the picture was clear.

The word in this case was 'way', and search revealed 3 captions (image)

So what I am coming down to is...
what if you could also show the most important captions for the word hovered, below the Cloud (or in tooltip, but below the cloud will be better).
Or,
provide a toggle, or side by side display of Activity Cloud and the existing Activity Overview list on the Activity Overview dialog.

Thanks
