What defines inactivity for the Auto Popup?

Anonymous 02-28-2008, 18:29
I have set the auto popup to popup after 3 minutes of inactivity. I move away from my computer for more than 3 minutes and nothing happens. I was wondering what is inactivity and could I have something set to stop my computer going there? I only have the trial version at the moment.

Thanks
James

P.S. your example queries for the database lookup use {text1} not {textfield1}

Hi James,

You've set TS to pop up after 3 minutes of inactivity, but how frequently (the field above)?

Notice that the configuration dialog reads like a sentence:

[x] Automatically pop up a 'New Flag' Dialog
every [1] [hours]     <--- what do you have this set to?
   after [30] [seconds] of inactivity
   every [weekday]
   between [08:00] and [17:00]

For this configuration, the dialog would pop up every hour, as long as the computer has been inactive for the last 30 seconds (as long as it's a weekday and working hours)

Notice that all the [XX] as customizable.

Ah, we'll change that - that was unfortunate Tongue Tied [:S]

Ahhh.

I thought there was an "or" in there so it would pop up every hour or after 30 seconds of inactivity. This way you could hit cancel if you were still working on the same thing after an hour and if you were inactive the computer would ask you what you were doing during that time.  I see how you meant it to work now. The inactivity is to minimise interuptions.

Not sure if it would work but a straight popup after X minutes of inactivity seems useful to me as this would be uncaptured time by timesnapper. If for example you have just set the hourly popup and then you might have taken a phonecall or been called to help a coworker. The new popup would be sitting on you desktop with an approximate starttime for that task when you sit back down.

Thanks for the clarification

Hey James,

I understand the confusion - you're not the first one :)  I guess that means the dialog needs some improvements to make this clearer.

To do this, just configure it like this:

[x] Automatically pop up a 'New Flag' Dialog
every [1] [minutes]     <--- just put a short time here (that is less than the inactivity value below)
   after [3] [minutes] of inactivity

This way, you'll get a popup every 3 minutes after you leave your computer.
