Hi,
I wanted to record VirtualPC session - a friend of mine was demoing some app for me remotely by controlling my VPC with UltraVNC. Only parts when I interacted with VPC were recorded, but all others when he was clicking around were not.
To a certain extent I understand why but would like to know is there a way to make it detect screen changes in a situation like that. If not, does anybody happen to know whether Camtasia Studio would do it - I know they are tracking events just like TS (sorry for bringing somebody else's software here).

Ah, i think this is something we've catered for.
The trouble is that when VNC activity is going on, windows is not aware that this is considered to be user activity, thus it reports that the system is idle. Hence, timesnapper decides (by default) that there's no point taking a screenshot.
This behaviour can be changed:
In TimeSnapper, under "tools" | "options" | "options tab" there is an option called "Take snapshots also when idle" which will tell timesnapper to keep taking screenshots, even when Windows claims that it is idle.
If this doesn't fix the problem, please let me know.
Also -- no problem mentioning Camtasia Studio here. They make a bunch of awesome products, but the focus of timeSnapper and Camtasia are quite different, so i see us as complementary not competing.
Hey -- even if they were competitors, it would still be fine to discuss them here. We're open to all the feedback we can get ;-)

Thanks. I guess the other approach would be to install TS on that VPC - that way TS would notice activity regardless of source.

Hi,
I'm using the Classic Version trying to take screenshots the whole day for testing purposes. Although I'm away from the computer, I've sent my browsers to auto-refresh every few minutes and it is those changes on the websites that i want to track.
I don't see the option "Take Snapshots also when idle". Is this only available in the pro?
