Currently I find the "Find" function pretty much completely useless unfortunately... this is mainly because it does not allow me to find snapshots by flag texts. So far I haven't had the need to search by caption or program name even once - but I would have loved to be able to search the text of my flags...
Ideally, Find should be able to do a full text search on all data associated with a shot, i.e. program, caption, flag text, Task ID, Task, Customer, etc. without me having to specify which field I'm expecting the search term to appear in (because a lot of the time I simply won't know for sure).
Or am I missing something and this is possible after all? And no, the Flag report does not help as it does not allow me to navigate to the shots in question.
Cheers,
Oliver

I'm actually thinking about adding a link from the flag report so that when you click it, you will be brought to to the daybrowser at the correct place (similar to what is done in the Word Cloud report). Same goes for other reports, link dates back to the day browser.
Would that be sufficient? Because actually the flag is just a point in time, not exactly associated with any screenshot directly...
Thanks Atli

That would definitely go a looong way, yes! You got my vote for that. But I guess it'd still feel a bit like a crutch as the Flag report only allows filtering by date not by search terms... Granted I can simply press Ctrl-F and use Internet Explorer's search functionality to locate anything inside the report...

Well, that doesn't really matter from an end user's perspective as screenshots are themselves associated with points in time, don't you think?
One thing I noticed though is that the time information stored in the Flag appears to be precise only to the minute, so when I navigate to a flag on the timebar I will usually be "off" by a couple of frames (I take snapshots at a 15 second interval)...
Cheers,
Oliver

Just a quick refresher on this one. Is anything like this maybe in the works by now?

Hi Oliver
currently you can, as you suggested, use the flags report and use Ctrl-F to search the flag text. From there you can click on a link that takes you to that place in the day browser. Isn't that working well enough for you?

Not really, no. Especially as clicking the link will only take me to the beginning of the correct day, not to the actual flag itself... (tested on two different machines - not sure if that is intentional or a bug)
Also, it'd really be great if you could increase the precision of the flag time stamp to some interval smaller than a minute... I take snapshots every 15 seconds and sometimes I would actually like to put two different flags within the same minute...
Would really appreciate if you could tweak this just a little bit more.
Cheers,
Oliver

aha, that is actually a bug. We'll fix that for the next release.
Being able to put a flag at a finer level is a bit more involved because we would need to rearrange the dots in the timebar so they wouldn't overlap.
Are you documenting these particular screenshots (since I assume you don't switch tasks that quickly! :) Maybe we can come up with a better solution if we know the purpose a bit better...
thanks

I can confirm that this is now fixed in TS 3.5.0.5.

Flags at a finer level are not a particularly high priority for me. It's just that I typically have to step back or forward from the frame that navigating the flag takes me to before I get to the shot that I was looking for. I do not use the auto-popup feature. I tried it a couple of times but it just doesn't fit my workflow. The majority of my flags is set manually via the day browser, so I tend to set them precisely on the frame that represents the beginning of an activity. It's only slightly irritating that this doesn't also work the other way round, i.e. navigating to the flag will currently not take me to the shot that I flagged (because in my mind that is what I'm doing - I don't flag "points in time"), i.e. when I navigate to a flag that says it's identifying Task B I will often arrive at a shot that is still part of Task A...
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Oliver
