Hello!

we or will we be able to tag/categorize our applications differently?
such as itunes for entertainment so we can see where our time is being
spent. [I saw a thread that talks about productive versus unproductive
being color coded differently, didn't know about tags/categories though]

Currently it's only possible to tag an application as productive/unproductive. However, tagging/categorization is something that we definitely are thinking of.

timesnapper only log active windows?

Yes

background, does that count against my productivity score?

|
No

-I
have categorized firefox as a productive application (firefox.exe) and
then put "mozilla firefox" under productive window keywords - Would
that log firefox twice?
|
|
Nope, it works as expected.

-Also, firefox's window titles change
according to the websites I visit, so let's say I visit microsoft.com
and if I have microsoft.com as a productive keyword, then does the
productivity score get calculated as follows : mozilla firefox
(productive keyword) + firefox.exe (application) + mozilla firefox
(productive keyword)...if not how is that calculated?

Currently the productivity score is calculated as following (although that might change later with a more complex algorithm):
1. If the "productive keyword" is found in the window title => that activity counts as productive and no more processing occurs. (1 point for productiveness, 0 points for non-productiveness)
2. else if the application is categorized as a productive one => that
activity counts as productive and no more processing occurs. (1 point for productiveness, 0 points for non-productiveness)
3. else that activity is considered a waste of time! :) (0 point for productiveness, 1 points for non-productiveness)

an academic pricing model for TimeSnapperPro? - The reason I ask this
is because I am a student and have only 1 laptop (refurbished:)), so
having two licenses 1 for desktop and 1 for pc, is basically an
additional license that I don't need.
Thank you very much for your time and attention to these queries!

This is exactly how I do it... we've already begun tracking the websites you are visiting and storing it although we don't let you (yet) specify them as productive.
>Can we at least know how much time we have spent by using timesnapper
in terms of minutes and seconds because I am unable to track how much
time I am actually spending on my computer!
Currently this is only possible by combining the results from 2 reports in TimeSnapper: "Time spent in front of computer" and "Program statistics". We working on a combined report though!
>I will say this though : GREAT PRODUCT!!! and excellent execution of such a program.
Thanks!
Best regards Atli
